"Language and the Machine" - Social Media Week 2017

Chatbots, virtual reality and messaging apps #SMWHH focuses on worldwide social media trends. Registration being accepted now

Hamburg is to host the next Social Media Week from February 27-March 3, 2017. Registrations are already being accepted on #SMWHH. The event has been held in New York, Jakarta and Mexico City in the past. Visitors can expect many exciting keynote speeches and workshops. More events are due to be added to the programme during the coming weeks. This year, visitors just have to register once rather than for separate events as has been the case in the past.

Greater use of augmented and virtual reality

The sixth SMWHH will held under the theme “Language and the Machine” and also focus on algorithms and the future of communication. The event will take account of the main social media trends and videos, rapidly spreading messaging apps and chatbots, greater use of augmented and virtual reality as well as the spread of intelligent technologies like voice detection and voice control applications. The agenda also includes topics such as business and brands, digital entertainment as well as innovation and techology.

Main hubs and satellite locations

The Macromedia University of Applied Sciences and the Markthalle Hamburg are the main hubs for sessions during SMWHH. Related events will be held in easily reached places and that allow good opportunities for networking. The Chamber of Commerce “InnovationsCampus”, the betahaus and the Superbude St. Pauli will become satellite locations during the week. All the tickets are free except for the “Fast Lane Pass” thanks to sponsors and partners like the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, nextMedia.Hamburg, NDR, Chamber of Commerce Hamburg, comdirect bank AG, CARL Group and Hamburg Airport.
