InnoGames increases turnover to over EUR 100 million

Hamburg-based game developer banking on mobile games market. Payment is "free-to-play"

The Hamburg-based online games provider InnoGames had record, consolidated annual sales in 2015 of over EUR 100 million. InnoGames grew 100 per cent on the mobile games market and its most successful cross platform games were Forge of Empires, Grepolis and Tribal Wars.

Strong market growth

Hendrik Klindworth, CEO of InnoGames, said: “We note clear growth in the mobile versions and 60 per cent of Forge of Empires players are using the apps.” This year, InnoGames will focus on the strongly growing mobiel games market.

Staff from 30 countries

The firm also intends hiring 50 new employees. Klindworth stressed: “We are still reliant on staff from other countries.” People from 30 nations are already working in the company’s officies in Hamburg. Last June, the Federal Ministry of Economics honored InnoGames as one of six companies in Germany that is especially attractive for international professionals.

InnoGames says it is one of the leading developers and publishers of online games and has over 150 million registered users. The company’s business model is based on “free-to-play”. That means games can be played free of charge. Users have the option of booking premium content for just a few cent. Advertising on the internet using banners shown beside the games is another financing means.

InnoGames was founded in 2007 by the brotherers Hendrik and Eike Klindworth as well as Michael Zillmer. Today’s managers are Armin Busen, Christian Pern and Markus Lipp along with the founders.
