The Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, gamecity:Hamburg and the Authority for Culture and Media have set aside funds to allow five Hamburg-based indie game development studios host a joint Indie Arena Booth at the Gamescom 2019 in Cologne from August 20-24, 2019. Around 370,000 visitors (2018) are expected at Gamescom, one of the world’s largest trade fairs for computer and video games. Local companies can receive up to EUR 1,500 in funds. Interested games studios have until the deadline of April 7, 2019 to submit their applications to the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft.
Four of Germany’s ten biggest game developers in Hamburg
The earmarked amount must be spent on the exhibition space. “The independent and innovative indie studios provide important impulses for the games industry of the future, which has a firm home especially in Hamburg. Four of the ten largest game developers in Germany are based here,” said Dr. Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media. The funds will give the companies an opportunity to present themselves internationally and underline their importance for Hamburg as a business and innovative location.
