A new campus tower called finhaven in HafenCity is to become home to Hamburg’s fintech scene from autumn 2018. The tower will have around 1,000 square metres of space and some 100 workstations. Hamburg is establishing itself as a fintech hub and now has 42 companies of this kind. Big players such as Kreditech, Deposit Solutions or Finanzcheck are making the Hanseatic city a leading, innovator in the sector.
Networking, open spaces and fintech meet-ups
Lars Brücher, co-founder and manager of betahaus, the Hamburg-based software company mind matters, Robert Beddies, co-founder of the FintechWeek and Clas Beese, Manager of the FintechWeek came up with the idea for finhaven. The co-working space will be based on a community and is set to become a hub for innovative projects. The main focus in finhaven will be on networking, open spaces, offices for teams, fintech meet-ups and special events. The finhaven hub will be spread over two floors of the campus tower and will have flexible floor plans.
Focus on start-ups in fintech and insurance sector
Brücher, who helped initiate finhaven, explained: “In 2011, betahaus began as a pioneer of co-working spaces in Hamburg. The scene has grown strongly since then and Hamburg has become an important start-up-location. A co-working space with a clear focus on a sector is the next logical step for the city and for us.” Start-ups in the fintech and insurance sector that are interested in finhaven can contact Clas Beese (firstname.lastname@example.org) immediately. Digital pioneers in the established finance and insurance industry are also welcome.
