Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, a municipal institution that promotes Hamburg’s creative industries, is to become the new administrator of nextMedia.Hamburg, a joint initiative for the media and digital industry, and will cater to the needs of the media industry as one. Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft has been the central point of contact with diverse services for media and the creative industry since 2010.
Unit for knowledge and technology-based start-ups
Until now, nextMedia.Hamburg was part of Hamburg Invest (formerly HWF Hamburg Business Development Corporation). In the late 1990s, Hamburg Invest was one of the initiators of hamburg@work from which nextMedia.Hamburg emerged and played a key role in the initiative’s success. From January 1, 2018, Hamburg Invest will become the main point of contact for knowledge and technology-based start-ups in Hamburg.
Promoting international visibility of Hamburg’s start-ups
Dr. Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media, said: “Media and creative industries are gaining more importance in Hamburg. It is important to us to have fixed points of contact and to offer competent support. We can pool our skills in the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, as the new administrator of nextMedia.Hamburg, and offer both media and creative people improved surroundings.“
Frank Horch, Senator for Economics, added: “Hamburg Invest is a one-stop agency for investments in Hamburg and it will also be the institution organising the planned research and innovation parks. Creating a point of contact for knowledge and technology-based start-ups at Hamburg Invest is a logical consequence. And we also want to boost marketing efforts and to raise the visibility of Hamburg’s start-up ecosystem on an international scale. Hamburg Invest in conjunction with Hamburg Marketing is the ideal partner.”
