Around 70,000 professionals are heading to the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) from March 10-19, 2017 in Austin, Texas. Then the state sheds its western image and becomes the axis of the world’s biggest international digital, media and music conference. Start-ups in Hamburg like Sonormed and Spice VR have already pitched successfully at the SXSW Accelerator.
Travel funds and admission to exclusive event
The private initiative Hamburg Startups is holding a special edition of the “Hamburg Startups Mixer” on January 24th in Mindspace’s co-working offices. Three selected start-up teams will then compete for a ticket to Austin. The application phase has already ended. Those interested in tickets for the event can still find some available.
Although the start-up winner of a ticket to SXSW does not get a chance to pitch at the fair, start-ups can network with investors and multipliers and gain admission to exclusive events in Texas. The winner can also take part in Hamburg’s programme of events, presentations of companies and products as well as music showcases.
Figo to pitch at Hamburg Startups Mixer
One finalist has already been announced on the Hamburg Startups web page: “The fintech start-up Figo has grown impressively s during the past months. It has entered a promising co-operation and recently made headlines with a EUR 6.8 million investment. This development has convinced us and our partners and we have decided to give Figo one of the three pitch positions on January 24.” Last September, a double win at the Startups@Reeperbahn Pitch also saw Baqend, a provider of cloud services, secure a ticket to Texas.
