Greenhouse Innovation lab to host food hackathon

Designers, foodies and start-ups stand to win a month's coaching in innovation lab

Gruner + Jahr’s Greenhouse Innovation Lab is hosting a hackathon focusing on food from July 20-22, 2017. Backed by next media accelerator, the aim is to find digital innovations such as an app, webpage or chatbot in the sector. All those interested from developers, designers, foodies, start-ups to newcomers are invited to take part – with or without an idea.

From idea to prototype in 48 hours

During a hackathon, a large number of computer programmers, designers and entrepreneurs meet for several days to engage in collaborative computer programming. Teams of up to six people will spend 48 hours developing food-related business models and prototypes and present them to a jury later. The jury includes Jens Uehlecke, Managing Director of Greenhouse Innovation Lab, Jan Spielhagen, Editorial Director Food and Editor-in-chief of the essen&trinken and BEEF! magazines, Dirk Zeiler, Managing Partner at next media accelerator and Isa Sonnenfeld, Google News Lab.

EUR 1,000 Euro for best product

The winner of the “Best Product” category wins EUR 1,000 while EUR 750 awaits the winner of the “Most Innovative Idea” category. The Hamburg-based Delinero start-up is offering a food box to the winner of the “Best Pitch” category. Greenhouse Innovation Lab will award a special “Best G+J Brand Fit” prize of one month’s coaching to the winning team.
