The list of high-calibre speakers at this year’s scoopcamp now includes Nonny de la Peña, founder and CEO of Emblematic Group, and hailed as the “Godmother of Virtual Reality” as well conversion expert Marius Thorkildsen, of Schibsted Media Group which owns some of the largest newspapers in Sweden and Norway. This comes following the announcement of Jochen Wegner, Editor-in-Chief of ZEIT Online, as the recipient of this year’s scoopcamp award which will be presented on September 28, 2018 in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt. Organised by next.media, Deutsche-Presse Agentur dpa in co-operation with Google News Lab, mh:n digital GmbH and Zeit Online, the conference is celebrating it’s tenth anniversary this year.
The U.S. national, de la Peña, is among the most influential pioneers in the augmented and virtual reality sector and has been widely credited with creating a new genre of immersive journalism. During the conference, she will give a keynote on the “Power of Human Storytelling in Virtual and Augmented Reality” for journalism. Another highlight of scoopcamp 2018 is the keynote address by Marius Thorkildsen, Digital Engagement Manager at Schibsted, entitled “Converting Casual Readers into Engaged Subscribers.” Thorkildsen has stressed, “media companies must rethink and deal with user-generated sales models in the digital sector”.
