This year’s NEXT conference from September 22-23 will be held under the motto, “It’s me, your digital ego”, highlighting people and machines, according to organisers. Around 1,300 decision-makers from the digital sector will discuss trends, users’ needs and business models in future on the tenth anniversary of the event in Hamburg’s Reeperbahn. NEXT is a partner of the Reeperbahn Festival and delegates at the conference will also receive tickets for the music festival.
Chatbots, facial recognition and autonomous driving sounded like science fiction just a few years ago, but have long since become reality. Artificial intelligence is thus becoming a fixed part of everyday life prompting the emphasis this year on the interplay between people and machines. International keynote speakers like Brian Solis, a trend analyst and author, will discuss the effects of digital innovations on consumer behaviour and on business models in future.
NEXT 16 will again dock onto the Reeperbahn Festival spatially and in terms of the agenda. Decision-makers will highlight the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation. Matthias Schrader, CEO SinnerSchrader, and founder of NEXT, said: “The digital roadmap for the next ten years will be discussed at NEXT”, adding, “The mixture of different people who are pushing digitalisation ahead from diverse perspectives is an inspiring moment of the NEXT conference. The blend of decision makers, designers and developers is unique in Europe.”
Four main themes
The festival’s four main themes are “Behaviour”, “Product Design”, “Platforms” und “Artificial Intelligence”. Along with Solis, other international experts like Nathalie Nahai, author and web psychologist, and Golden Krishna, a design strategist and author at Google, will also give fresh impetus on key global trends and issues. Smaller group sessions with lectures, exhibitions and workshops will be held at venues across the Reeperbahn.
Delegates have a choice of 600 concerts and cultural events to visit in the evenings. The NEXT ticket is offering delegates at the conference admission to the Reeperbahn Festival, which attracts around 30,000 annual visitors.
NEXT16 is being organised by the SinnerSchrader and FAKTOR 3 agencies. In 2015, the two agencies were responsible for relocating the festival from Berlin to Hamburg simultaneous with NEXT’s switch from business to digital conference.
