Finalists of Reeperbahn Startup Pitch announced

Four start-ups to pitch at Mojo Club for ticket to SXSW Festival 2020

A jury of experts with Hamburg Startups has chosen the start-ups femtasy based in Cologne, Hyconnect and Localyze from Hamburg and Modularity Grid, which hails from Toulouse and London, as the finalists of the Reeperbahn Startup Pitch in the Mojo Club on November 7, 2019. A total of 120 start-ups had entered of whom 30 were shortlisted. The lucky winner secures a ticket, flight and accommodation at the leading digital and creative festival SXSW Festival underway in Austin, Texas next year.


The jury consisted of experts in the investment, financial sector, large companies and media sectors. Katharina Fegebank, Deputy Mayor of Hamburg and Senator for Science, Research and Equality, was also part of the panel. The winning start-ups hail from a wide variety of backgrounds. The online streaming platform, femtasy, develops erotic audio stories for women while Hyconnect simplifies production in the shipping and automotive industries by combining fibre composites and metal. Another Hanseatic start-up, Localyze, has developed a software solution for companies that makes it easier for their foreign employees to familiarize themselves with their new workplace while Modularity Grid is developinga cloud platform that supports the design and assembly of satellites.

Getting ready to pitch

The Berlin-based Comfexy GmbH has an e-commerce platform CUCA INTIMA and the Hamburg-based JobMatchMe, which specialises in AI based recruiting, had been selected in September during an online poll and pitch at the me Convention in Frankfurt held by Mercedes-Benz and SXSW.

Reeperbahn Startup Pitch

A total of 16 start-ups will present their business models in themed sessions i.e. media, smart city, aviation and space, logistics, mobility and fintech during the Reeperbahn Startup Pitch. Apart from increased media attention and networking opportunities, the winning start-up secures a trip to the SXSW Festival, which will bring the digital and creative world to Austin, from March 16 to 22, 2020.
