Finalists of Hamburg Innovation Award announced

Award honours innovative spirit and entrepreneurship - presentation during HHIS

The finalists of the Hamburg Innovation Awards (HHIA) have been selected and the lucky winners will receive their prizes during the Hamburg Innovation Summit (#HHIS) on May 23, 2019. The summit is a hotspot of innovations and brings together founders, designers, people in business, politics and science in Altona’s Fischauktionshalle. This year’s lectures, workshops and interactive expo will focus on the trending topics of future city, new work and deep tech. The summit is being held under the auspices of Dr. Peter Tschentscher, Mayor of Hamburg and Katharina Fegebank, Senator for Science, Research and Equality, and Michael Westhagemann, Senator for Economics as promoters of the conference.

Categories: ideas, start and growth

The HHIA will be presented in three categories and go to the business idea with the most potential, the most exciting start*-up and the most innovative *growth company in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. An independent jury of experts will assess the entrants.

Finalists in the ideas category

Beagle Systems designs high performance unmanned aerial vehicles, and will inspect power lines and pipelines next year.

Flugilo is working on a temporary parking pilot for aircraft to avoid damage when manoeuvring on the ground.

Panda develops hardware and software for optimizing and monitoring production processes.

Finalists in the start category

Sirum has developed a digital transformation software solution that allows transport companies to leverage previously unused capacity on the market.

Jetlite has developed an algorithm that adapts lighting in aircraft cabins to the human biorhythm during long-haul flights thereby reducing jet lag.

JobMatchMe is an HR tech start-up that specialises in matching employees and employers in road transport.

Finalists in the growth category

WPS – Workplace Solutions GmbH works with university researchers on the digitization of working environments.

Initions AG develops intelligent IT solutions for companies in transport management and business intelligence.

Accellerate enables the direct use of cells in biological tests by freezing them gently.

Prize money

The winners of each category will receive EUR 5,000 in prize money as well as non-cash prizes.
