Facebook expands in Europe

German headquarters in Hamburg move to bigger premises. Social Network keeps scooping up as new employees

Facebook is moving to bigger offices in Hamburg to accommodate its rapidly growing workforce. Facebook established its German headquarters in Hamburg in 2010. Relocating to a new space to Hamburg’s inner city Brahmsquartier will give Facebook the room it needs to accommodate the employees Facebook is currently employing in Hamburg, and new ones the social media giant plans to hire. While Facebook so far so has been residing next to Airbnb’s initial office when conquering the German market, Google now will be his neighbour neighbour just around the corner. Like in Silicon Valley, the players of Web 2.0 all meet themselves in Hamburg in a densely built inner city borough, with Axel Springer’s publishing house as landmark. Also located here is large German newspaper corporation Funke Gruppe.

Germany’s Silicon Valley

Facebook plans to move to its new premises at Caffamacherreihe in February 2015. Relocating to another German metropolis is out of the question for the social network. “In February 2010, we deliberately chose Hamburg as a location for the Facebook German headquarters. The Hanseatic city offers to us the ideal mix of media, agencies and companies. As one of the most beautiful cities in Germany with the rivers Elbe and Alster, Hamburg is also an attractive location for potential new employees, “ the social network stated when asked about its choice.

In Europe, Facebook also has offices in Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Stockholm and Warsaw. Facebook employs more than 6,000 employees worldwide.
