Large numbers of delegates at the second Digital Kindergarten on June 7, 2018 in Hamburg appeared ready to experiment and enthusiastic about technology and came despite the glorious summer weather. Managing directors, marketing, sales and IT managers, creative people and digital marketers tested gadgets, innovations and new technologies on 36 experimental islands and learned about augmented reality, blockchain, artificial intelligence, robots and automation. Exhibitors included Microsoft, Oracle, Deutsche Bahn, Daimler, Adform, Unruly, Jost von Brandis, Opinary and Hamburger Hochbahn.
Several speakers gave presentations about concrete applications and ways of using the technologies. Pepper, the robot, which has become a must at these conferences, was available for questions. Food trucks, ice cream stands and a paddling pool created a festive spirit outdoors.
Managers need to catch up
The first digital conference in 2017 attracted 250 visitors and the waiting has grown ever longer prompting the organisers to opt for a larger venue this year. Commenting on plans for next year’s event, Mirko Kaminski, initiator and Managing Director of the achtung! creative agency, said:“Digital Kindergarten is to become even larger and more diverse in 2019. More than 1,000 participants show that there is a great need for marketing decision-makers, managers, creatives and sales managers to try out the latest technologies immediately and thus better understand them.” The combined trade fair, experimental event and festival is organised by the Weischer.Media, Future Candy and achtung! agencies.
