“Academics, in particular, often have problems in describing ther ideas, projects, and business plans in straight and clear speech”, says Sebastian Tempel, managing director Startup Dock, in an interview with Hamburg Startups. At Pitch Yourself, one of the key items on the agenda of this year’s UniPitch, students would get the opportunity to present their projects to a large audience in a relaxed atmosphere. In addition, they would directly receive on stage useful advice from professional coaches. Other parts of the programme include the Idea Challenge pitching, with eight teams pitching to win the favour of the audience and prize money, as well as various lectures by insiders, e.g. Philipp Westermann Meyer, organizer of the Online Marketing Rockstars. In addition to the Hamburg Startups Mixer, there will be ample space and time to network and exchange ideas. z
Hosts & Organisers
This year’s UniPitch will take place 12 Oktober 2015 at Millerntor stadium, with theEXIST-Workshop being held simultaneously. The UniPitch will be hosted by Hamburg’s universities and research facilities in co-operation with the Gründerzentrum der HandelskammerHamburg and nextMedia.Hamburg. The event is organised by the Startup Dock, an initiative of the University of Technolgy, Hamburg-Harburg.
Excellent Start-Up Network
UniPitches aims at bringing the university scene closer together. The organisers want to establish an event, where students, scientists and founders meet once a year. The UniPitch 2015 will be much larger ini scale rather than its 2014 premiere. According to Tempel, the event is directed at all “who are interested in entrepreneurship and want to network with like-minded people.” Many businesses and startup promoters participated in the event to get to know smart people. Sebastian Tempel positively evaluates the network for young entrepreneurs existing in Hamburg today. “Who wants to start a business in Hamburg is very well supported. The only thing is that you have to know who you have to contact.” The managing director praises the initiative of nextMedia.Hamburg, the HK24 und Hamburg Startups.
