The sixth round of the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft’s accelerator for start-ups in the music industry runs from September 3-November 30, 2018 with a deadline for applications on June 17th. The era of vinyls, cassettes and CDs is a thing of the past. The music industry is facing huge challenges amid radically changed production and sales conditions in the age of digitalisation. Yet, the industry is proving a pioneer and flexible in terms of developing and implementing concrete, forward-looking solutions. The accelerator programme is one of the few worldwide that promotes this potential for innovation.
Jury prize of EUR 5,000
Founders and young companies in the music sector can apply to the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft for funding provided all applicants for the Music WorX Accelerator are based in Hamburg. Up to four founders’ teams selected by the Cultural Authority and Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft will receive free office spaces, workshops and advice from professionals in the sector and subsistence allowances for three months. An expert jury will decide on the best business idea pitched by young music companies from all over Germany and award the winning team EUR 5,000. A German music magazine will also publish a feature focusing on the winning team.
Cross Innovation Accelerator
The Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft is also hosting the first Cross Innovation Accelerator in 2018 and encourages participants to look to other sectors for inspiration e.g. car control consoles inspired by the gaming industry, the use of digital production processes such as 3D printing in the fashion industry or transferring co-working typical of start-ups to established companies. The Cross Innovation Accelerator targets start-ups in the creative industries and other markets. Interdisciplinary start-ups have until July 1, 2018 to apply for the first edition of the programme underway from October 8-November 15, 2018.
Cash and non-cash prizes worth EUR 10,000
Up to four companies will receive funding in a compressed six-week programme with professional qualification measures and will have an opportunity to network with key industry players in the city. Experts will help the participants further develop their business idea, which will be pitched to a jury of professionals at a closing, public event. Participants receive expert feedback and stand to win cash and non-cash prizes worth EUR 10,000.
