Funds to boost Hamburg as a city of culture

The pandemic has dealt a severe blow to the music industry and that poses a challenge for the city, according to Dr Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media. "The Music City Fund is an important means of strengthening Hamburg's independent music scene." It helps make music offers in the city even more diverse and innovative. "Especially after the challenging past years, we want to actively help artists implement their good ideas as they add to the quality of culture in Hamburg," he noted.

An independent jury will select projects by applicants including bands, orchestras, individual artists and agencies. The Music City Fund was originally set up to promote the breadth of the independent music scene. The grants are awarded once annually for the following year.
