Adolf Weber acquires 20,000 m² plot - firms in Hamburg expanding despite corona crisis

The Adolf Weber Grundbesitz und Projektgesellschaft has obtained a 20,000 m² commercial plot in Hamburg's Jenfelder Au district to build a new Astor business park. The last plot on sale is linked to the Hamburg-East motorway junction. The company is just one of several defying the corona crisis and faring well.

Vivatis to lease building

The Jenfelder Au district is a mix of residential and commercial properties on the yard of a former barracks. Adolf Weber is planning two buildings with a total rental area of 10,000 m², the company said. It has already leased the larger of the two with around 7,000 m² of space to Vivatis Arzneimittel GmbH, a national healthcare service provider that supplies customers including pharmacies, pharmaceutical manufacturers and retailers. The second building is to be let as a commercial courtyard to craftsmen and small traders.

300 jobs secured

Michael Westhagemann, Hamburg's Senator for Economics, remarked: "Despite the pandemic, numerous companies are expanding. We are strengthening healthcare provision in Hamburg by allocating this space. One of our special concerns is to make suitable space available to craft enterprises in integrated locations". The project is being implemented by Hamburg Invest on behalf of the city. Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest, commented: "We are pleased that given the overall high demand for space that we can secure more than 300 jobs at the location through this efficient use of space."
