Ministry for Culture and Media providing half a million euros for independent art and culture scene

Applications for grants of up to EUR 50,000 to 100,000 from the Elbkulturfonds 2024 are being accepted online until the deadline of June 1, 2023. The City of Hamburg is making half a million euros available for the independent arts and culture scene through the Ministry of Culture and Media.

Elbkulturfonds for international co-operation

"The Elbkulturfonds has developed into a good instrument for implementing a wide variety of projects in the independent scene. We are particularly pleased that many cross-disciplinary projects have led to increased networking between artists in Hamburg and abroad and across borders," said Dr. Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media. "This has resulted in attractive international alliances. Many different, emerging events are shaping the future, defying crises, challenging existing conditions and sharing bold visions," he added.

Eligibility

Artists in the visual arts, literature, music, dance, theatre, performance, video, photography, public art and design are eligible to apply for funds. The ministry welcomes applications for interdisciplinary and international projects and by people with physical or cognitive disabilities. Grants are also available for inclusive cultural projects. A jury of five experts will decide on the recipients.
