Airlines are offering 25 new destinations from mid-May, bringing the total to 105 from Hamburg Airport despite the pandemic. Four new destinations in Greece including including Chania, Kalamata, Preveza, Samos are on offer as the country recently lifted mandatory quarantine for EU passengers. Brand ew destinations are also on offer to Cluj (Romania), Tirana (Albania), Chisinau (Moldova), Belgrade (Serbia) and Larnaca (Cyprus) from Hamburg Airport.

More choice on eleven routes

From mid-May, passengers will have more choice of airlines on eleven other routes from Hamburg e.g., to Prague, Oslo, Moscow, Valencia and Thessaloniki. However, this is subject to demand and travel restrictions.

A return to normal operations is not yet in sight at Hamburg Airport. Anyone wishing to fly back to Germany may only board a flight with a negative corona test. The German government has urged people to cease non-essential tourist travel. Hamburg Airport is witnessing only 36 take-offs and 36 landings per day. Last year, commercial aircraft movements at the airport dropped by about two thirds. The airport introduced contactless check-ins, hygiene rules as well as corona testing facilities.
