Due to huge support and numerous small and large donations, the “Patchie” app for the treatment of cystic fibrosis in children can be realised, with more than . More than 76,000 euros were collected as part of a crowdfunding campaign on the Nordstarter platform by the end of July in just 120 days. The funds will be used to advance the development of the software by the Hamburg-based company Birds and Trees, the Hamburg Creative Society reported.
The “Patchie” app playfully leads affected children throught her cystic fibrosis therapy. With 76,168 euro, the funds collected at Nordstarter are the highest amount so far gathered by crowdfunding on the regional platform . Prominent support came from YouTube star LeFloid who called his fans to support the campaign.
Applicable to Other Diseases
Currently, ten employees are involved in making the app work. Domiciled in Hamburg-Harburg since May 2014, the start-up “Birds and Trees” is also the developer of the game app “Soledad”, with proceeds being donated to the UN Refugee Agency. The new “Patchie” project is being supported by the German Cystic Fibrosis Association (CF). Marc Kamps, CEO of Birds and Trees, says, even though the app focuses on cystic fibrosis, its software could also be adopted to accompany other therapies or diseases.
