From passion to start-up
The Hamburg-based couple Melina Paeper and Dr. Oliver Meyer-Walters are the brain behind MO, which stands for the founders’ forenames. Meyer-Walters has been involved in collagen and cell research for years and is now combining scientific findings with the power of the ocean. “Not only does the ocean produce the most effective active ingredients. We also spend as much time as possible on the water in our private lives. Sailing is our greatest passion. The only holidays that we take is to spend four weeks sailing on the Baltic Sea,” said Paeper.
Active oceanic substances meet technology
Algae are one of the best raw materials for cosmetic products Paeper. “We use, for instance, a highly concentrated algae extract from Brittany, which contains many valuable amino acids and vitamins. That and other active ingredients are then encapsulated in multi-layered beads using multilamellar cesicles technology to penetrate deeper into the skin. The product isvegan, free of microplastics, parabens, silicones, paraffins, sulphates and dyes and is sold in the Fontenay Spa and the Atlantik Hotel Hamburg.
