Eurofins Campus Hamburg to start operations in 2015

Expansion makes Hamburg the leading location for food analysis

Eurofins Group from Brussels expands its activities in Hamburg and makes the Elbe metropolis the number one for special and general food analysis in Germany. Until 2015, the office and lab space at the company‘s Harburg site will thus be expanded to more than 20,000 sq m. Inaugurated in 2005 and 2013 respectively, two new buildings with a total gross floor space of 8,000 sq m will undergo further expansion to form the Eurofins Campus Hamburg (ECH). Once operational, ECH will concentrate Eurofins 14 laboratory services and Hamburg units in a modern technology centre. ECH is planed to handle and analyse 500,000 product samples in highly efficient and automated processes each year. The company invests 90 million euro into the new campus. Eurofins‘ Hamburg workforce currently comprises 850 staff, with expansion seeing personnel figures climb to 1,000 in the near future. For 2013, the company is targeting revenues of 1.2 billion euro. By 2017, sales are expected to total two billion euro. Eurofins roots lie in a small family wine testing operation in Nantes. From these humble beginnings in 1987, it successfully developed into a global company with 14,000 employees in 180 locations worldwide.
