Organisers of the 13th Reeperbahn Festival thanked visitors Monday (September 24, 2018) for “four dazzling days” with over 45,00 visitors including 5,500 experts from 56 countries. Around 900 items on the agenda including 600 concerts ensured enormous diversity. The Reeperbahn Festival is one of the most important international business platforms for companies and organisations in the music industry and the digital creative industry. This year’s partner country was France.
Another triumph for Cargonexx
The festival also saw Cargonexx win the final of the Startups@Reeperbahn Pitch in Hamburg’s sold-out Gruenspan Music Club. Organised by the private initiative Hamburg Startups, the event had attracted numerous founders, supporters, investors and reporters. The final pitted five young start-ups from all over Germany against each other and they spent seven minutes vying for a ticket to the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas and a media budget of EUR 150,000 from Die WELT daily. Rolf-Dieter Lafrenz, founder and CEO of Cargonexx, won over the experts and the enthusiastic audience with figures, data, facts and visions.
Highlight: Klaus Voormann exhibition
Whether at the opening event, his vernissage or at the ANCHOR awarding ceremony: There were standing ovations for Klaus Voormann whose graphic works show “It Started In Hamburg” had its premiere during Reeperbahn Festival. The exhibition displayed graphic exhibits by the designer, musician and music author from about 60 years of creative work at the Festival Village. The exhibition, curated by his family as a surprise on Vormann’s 80th birthday, was sensationally popular and will be part of the concert, conference and arts programme presented by Reeperbahn Festival in the course of the Deutschlandjahr USA Sequencer programme from October 30–November 3 on behalf of the German Foreign Office in Los Angeles.
NEXT Conference “Digital Fix – Fix Digital”
The organisers of the NEXT conference thanked all those who made “NEXT18 an unforgettable experience”. The European digital festival NEXT brought together around 1,500 decision-makers, opinion leaders and creative minds at the Reeperbahn Festival to discuss interdisciplinary solutions for more humane technologies. The motto of this year’s event was “Digital Fix – Fix Digital”.
Next year’s Reeperbahn Festival
The 2019 Reeperbahn Festival will take place from September 18-21, 2018 with Australia as partner country. Early-bird tickets for the festival and the conference are available now for eager fans.
