Some 1,000 guests have been invited to attend the award ceremony of the Hamburg Animation Award 2015 to be held at Cinemaxx Dammtor. On 30 June 2015, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce will be honouring young internationnal talent in animation design as part of a presentation of Hamburg’s creative industries. Next to three main prizes, an Audience Award and the Harald Siepermann Character Design Price will be awarded with a total prize money of 11,000 euro.
Emphasis on Hamburg’s Creative Expertise
As an internationally successful character designer, Harald Siepermann significantly shaped animation training in Hamburg. The Hamburg Animation Award was launched recognise young talents, and to stimulate the exchange of international animation talents, thereby strengthening the importance of Hamburg as location for media and creative industries. The exchange between the animation industry and related industries is thus a key objective.
More Applicants than ever before
The evening will be presented by the Hamburg actress Nina Petri, voice actor Oliver Rohrbeck, and radio and TV presenter Peter Urban. In 2015, 330 entries from 47 countries were submitted, and thus a significantly higher number than last year. From all short films and games, primarily acquisition and training projects submitted by young animators, about ten projects will be nominated and presented to the public during the awards ceremony. A jury of ten experts will named the final winner.
On the morning of 30 June, the Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein will be hosting a workshop discussion at the Bucerius Law School, which will allow insights into the production of the animated film “Ooops! The ark is gone”, produced in Hamburg by Studio rocket and Ulysses Filmproduktion. The family film will premiere in Hamburg on 28 June.
