The second home² fair gets underway in Hamburg’s fairgrounds from January 26-28, 2018 with emphasis on healthy living and holistic approaches to building ecological homes. This comes against the backdrop of healthy nutrition, sport, car sharing and purchases of fair-trade clothing. Emphasis will also be on sustainability in the era of climate change.
Building with wood
People building homes have a vast array of building materials to choose from. “Wood has natural, sustainable and innovative features and has the potential to become the building material of the future,” said Stefan Mojen, of MOJEN GmbH. The company builds solid wood homes with natural materials and without mineral heat-insulation. The system (Holz100-Systems) results in good thermal insulation and lowers the cost of energy and sound insulation.
Inspiration and information
The home² will present all kinds of sustainable products and concepts in the “Organic Building” section. The exhibition will be complemented by an extensive, supporting programme including keynotes and several special shows focusing on the latest developments and forward-looking issues such as age-appropriate refurbishment. Experts will highlight smart homes, insurance and financing, security measures, burglary protection and gardens. Over 175 exhibitors and around 10,000 visitors flocked to the first home² fair in Hamburg in 2017.
