Katharina Scriba, communications expert and Commissioner for Cultural Co-operation at the Goethe-Institut in Paris, has been appointed HamburgAmbassador to the French capital and received her certificate of appointment last Wednesday (December 5, 2018). She succeeds Professor Wolfgang Michalski, who had been HamburgAmbassador to Paris for many years. Dr. Peter Tschentscher, First Mayor of Hamburg, handed over the certificate during a ceremony in Hamburg’s City Hall attended by Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, CEO of Hamburg Marketing GmbH.
Scriba, who had worked in Hamburg for several years, has supervised various Hanseatic programmes in Paris, including the presentation of the Elbphilharmonie in its opening year 2017. The HamburgAmbassadors are an international network of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg that promote the city’s international profile in their diverse spheres of influence. The mayor of Hamburg appoints the honorary representatives. At present, 36 HamburgAmbassadors work on Hamburg’s behalf in 24 countries. Hamburg Marketing GmbH co-ordinates and organises the HamburgAmbassador programme.
