IFLA International News Media Conference 2016 starts

Hamburg State and University Library is venue of international World Library and Information Congress (IFLA)

Academics and members of the IFLA News Media Section are meeting in Hamburg’s State and University Library Carl von Ossietzky from April 20-22, 2016 under the motto “Reviving the past and keeping up with the future – the role of libraries in maintaining and providing access to newspapers and news media”. The conference language is English.

Newspaper archives in the digital era

The conference’s agenda focuses on archiving news in the digital and social media era. How is access provided? Which legal aspects have to be taken into consideration? Which new services result from digital newspaper archives? How useful are these new applications for users?

Stockholm & Salt Lake City

The IFLA News Section is a subsection of the World Library and Information Congress. The news section deals mainly with digital archiving of various news formats. It holds a regular conference in April and a session of IFLA’s General Conference and Assembly in August. Last year, the IFLA International News Media Conference was held in Stockholm while Salt Lake City in Utah hosted the convention in 2014.
