Experts in retail, the property sector, logistics and politics will come together on Wednesday (August 21, 2019) to discuss strategies, concepts and practical ideas at the first Hamburg Trade Congress in the Chamber of Commerce. The event comes after a study by the IHK-ibi-Handelsstudie 2017 found that around every third stationary retailer in Germany combines online activities with offline offers ranging from returning goods or checking the availability of stock online.
Ideas for sustainable logistics in Hamburg
Dirk Kienscherf, Group Chairman of the SPD party in the Hamburg Parliament and Britta Mohr-Rothe of IKEA Germany will discuss challenges to politics and commerce in Hamburg under the theme of Trade, Property and Logistics. Innovative ideas for the last mile and sustainable logistics are also on the agenda. Dr. Jan Ninnemann, Professor at the Hamburg School of Business Administration (HSBA), will give a keynote on inner-city delivery logistics.
Online trade is increasingly discovering retail as the Hamburg-based online retailer Otto has shown as it strives to bridge the gap between online and offline retail in co-operation with ECE shopping centres. The congress will also focus on the future of shopping with Daniel Füchtenschnieder from Bonprix, a subsidiary of Otto, highlighting the digitally optimised flagship store recently opened in downtown Hamburg. Jule Wiling, co-founder of the online farm shop Frischepost, will also talk about her experiences.
