The Hamburg Metropolitan Region is being presented as Germany’s capital of urban development at MIPIM, the world’s leading property fair, underway in Cannes from March 13-15, 2018. No other city has a higher number of such projects. A total of 24 partners and institutions are presenting their latest projects and services.
Urban development challenges
Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest, said: “The concept is working. The Hamburg stand has become a platform for urban planning and forward-looking issues. We are thrilled with the great reception.” Dr. Dorothee Stapelfeldt, Senator of Urban Development, is presenting Hamburg’s projects at MIPIM, and will also meet investors and talk to representatives of other European cities including Marseille, with which Hamburg is twinned, and Oslo.
Urban projects such as HafenCity
Projects such as HafenCity, Elbtower, Altona Centre, Hamburg East and the Holsten district are likely to meet with interest in Cannes. Europe’s biggest inner city development project, HafenCity in the west of Hamburg, is now in the final phase of construction. When the new U4 stop on the Elbbrücken opens in December 2018, a new era in urban planning era will dawn linking HafenCity to central Hamburg, Rothenburgsort, Veddel and Grasbrook and open up all kinds of new opportunities.
