Hamburg-based culinary start-up in finals of founders' prize

Pokerria brings fusion cuisine to Hamburg - burrito meets Sushi and Poke Bowl

The Hamburg-based culinary start-up Pokerria, founded by Daniel Matera, is among five finalists in the German Gastro Founders’ Award 2019. The start-up’s wild mix of healthy food fuses Japanese, Hawaiian and Mexican cuisine is likely to prove popular in Hamburg.

Live vote on winner

Pokerria now stands a chance to win a package worth EUR 10,000 including guest membership of the Leader’s Club for two years, media support and start-up advice. A professional audience will select the winner in a live vote on March 15, 2019 during Internorga underway until March 19, 2019. More than 1,300 national and international exhibitors will be presenting their products, trends, innovations and digital solutions to over 95,000 trade visitors during the leading European trade fair for hotels, restaurants, bakery and confectionery.

Pokerria met all the criteria with its convincing idea, innovation, the unique selling point, the location and economic viability. Sophia Hoffmann, a chef and cookbook author, and Patrick Rüther, board member of the Leaders Club and co-founder of the Bullerei and ÜberQuell in Hamburg, opted for the Hamburg start-up with its mix of Burritos, Sushi and Poke Bowl. The other culinary start-ups in the final hail from Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Kleve and Biebergemünd.
