Germany’s biggest waterborne show, the hanseboot ancora boat show, is being renamed the “HAMBURG ancora YACHTFESTIVAL” to mark its 10th anniversary. The annual show will be held on the last weekend of May in future. This year’s event takes to the water from May 24 to 26 in the five-star ancora Marina in Neustadt in Holstein. A record number of yachts are on display this year in an even bigger area.
Continued growth course
More than 200 sailing boats and motor yachts will be presented at an extra jetty. A new promenade with adjoining hall forecourt is also planned ashore, which will link up to the exhibition hall around the harbour basin. Then, more exhibitors can present their equipment, accessories and high-quality clothing there. Heiko Zimmermann, Project Director HAMBURG ancora YACHTFESTIVAL, said: “There is an upward trend in boat size, too. We have e.g. a world premiere with the Performance Custom Yachts Ocean 65 in the high-end segment. We also have two exclusive power yacht builders with Ferretti and Fairline presenting for the first time at the YACHTFESTIVAL. The sailing yachts include the Hallberg-Rassy 57 and the Bente 39 for the first time.”
Workshop, keynotes and presentations
The supporting programme foresees plenty of information and entertainment in water and on land. The show is likely to attract thousands of visitors and making the festival the place to be for all boating fans and families. Many information-packed, free workshops, live music and culinary highlights will be held during the festival. Expert panel discussions in the exhibition hall include a keynote on “What you always wanted to know from a boat builder”, tips on sail trimming from sailing instructor Olli Ochse, and the popular cruise sailing seminar by Baltic Sea expert Sönke Roever. Various boards for stand up paddle boarding will be on show. Children can look forward to joy rides across the harbour basin on an inflatable dinghy with electric motor, organised by the Schleswig-Holstein Motorboat Association and yacht outfitter A.W. Niemeyer (AWN).
