The ninth “Long Night of Industry” gets underway in Hamburg on November 8, 2018, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, Hamburg Industry Association and Nordmetall Employers’ Association. Manufacturers of everyday products and specialised B2B suppliers will then open their doors to the public. Organised tours will give visitors an opportunity to view production facilities and learn more about job and training prospects in industry.
First held in 2008, more than 600 companies and around 68,000 participants in 12 regions across Germany have taken part in the event so far. “The lesser known companies, the hidden champions, in particular are delighted with increased visibility and an intense dialogue with their guests. The Long Night of Industry brings industrial companies to life for the public, breaks down barriers and clears up prejudices,” said Jürgen Henke, Managing Director of the agency prima events gmbh.
The “Long Night of Industry” is unique in Germany and allows companies to give potential employees, schoolchildren, students and others a glimpse of their factories. The aim is to bring industrial companies and people in a region into contact with each other. The joint “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative, forged by industry and the German government, awarded the Long Night of Industry the “Selected Landmark 2012” innovation prize.
