Elphilharmonie to screen free live concerts

Elbphilharmonie concerts from August 27- September 1 - concerts in Grand Hall to be broadcast live to forecourt

To mark the end of summer holidays in Hamburg, the Elbphilharmonie will screen, free live broadcasts of concerts from the Grand Hall onto its forecourt for one week only. From August 27–31, 2017, live performances by four international orchestras will be broadcast, bringing the three-week “Elbphilharmonie Summer” series to a close. The screenings are possible thanks to SAP, one of the Elbphilharmonie’s main sponsors, and who is making its “Cube” – a digital adventure area with a LED exterior wall, available to audiences outside the Elbphilharmonie.

Close of “Elbphilharmonie Summer” and opening of new season

The concerts feature the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra conducted by Yu Long and with star violinist Maxim Vengerov, the Baltic Sea Philharmonic under Kristjan Järvi, the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester under Ingo Metzmacher and the Ensemble Anima Eterna Brugge. On September 1, 2017, the “Opening Night” with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, its chief conductor Thomas Hengelbrock and the actor Klaus Maria Brandauer will take place outdoors as well.

Live stream on Elbphilharmonie’s homepage

Cushions will be placed on the steps of the Elbphilharmonie for guests to enjoy the late summer evenings in comfort. The concerts will be streamed live on the Elbphilharmonie’s homepage for people who cannot attend. NDR will also broadcast the “Opening Night” on radio.
