This year’s Internorga, underway in Hamburg from March 15-19, 2019, will also host the ProVeg Competence Centre for Vegetable Food in Catering to give the sector even more clout. This comes as more and more Germans are opting for vegetarian cuisine and the overall consumption of meat and sausage is lower, according to the Nutrition Report 2019 by the German Ministry of Nutrition and Agriculture. The increasing number of vegetarians and vegans is also impacting the catering industry and hotels as they strive to meet the demand. More than 1,300 exhibitors will present their products, trends, innovations and digital solutions for the entire out-of-home market to over 95,000 trade visitors at Internorga.
Trends and potential of vegan-vegetarian food
“We are delighted to have ProVeg at our side again as a strong partner. The veggie topic is of interest to the industry and calls for suitable business models and product portfolios in the out-of-home market. At Internorga, we not only offer gourmets a comprehensive overview of current trends and innovations, but also an inspiring supporting programme,” said Claudia Johannsen, Business Unit Manager at Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH.
Several manufacturers will be presenting the latest innovations from the plant sector and those by start-ups in Internorga’s Newcomers Area. Last year, ProVeg helped to develop the vegan-vegetarian track on Internorga’s app. Trade visitors obtain detailed information about exhibiting companies and those using a vast array of plants.
