"Summer at HafenCity" Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary

Hamburg's new waterfront district is a hotspot of summer, with free concerts, creative happenings, and lots of fun for visitors and locals alike

HafenCity’s programme of events for the summer is about as varied as the city district itself. Until 30 August 2015, HafenCity will be transformed into a public open-air stage for the ever-popular series of “Summer in HafenCity” events. The area’s many waterside squares and promenades provide an inviting open-air backdrop to a changing programme. This year, the popular series of events is celebrating its ten-year anniversary.

Entertainment and Culture on Quays and Squares

The entertaining programme of non-commercial outdoor events awaits the public every Sunday. There is something for everyone – from dance, to evening readings in a maritime atmosphere, hands-on creative activities for kids, or performances by street musicians. And the best: all events are free of charge. Altogether, summer at HafenCity comprises some 30 events, raging from tango at Magellan Terraces to poetry slams, swing sessions, and public readings. The sheer variety is made possible through the participation of many different players, from inside HafenCity itself, as well as many cultural partners and sponsors.
