Hamburg International Music Festival (April 28-June 1) announced

The International Music Festival Hamburg has announced nature-inspired concerts to be held in the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle from April 28-June 1, 2022. The agenda features classical masterpieces and modern artistic explorations of the environment and climate. The festival will present a selection of the most beautiful nature compositions to tie in with the latest social debates, according to the Elbphilharmonie. The focus is on music's possible contribution to environmental and climate protection. Top orchestras from Munich, Leipzig, Boston, Milan, Paris and London as well as musicians such as Yuja Wang, Igor Levit, Anne-Sophie Mutter and Asmik Grigorian will perform during the festival. 

Tickets now available 

The NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra conducted by Alan Gilbert will perform Joseph Haydn's "The Creation" on opening night (April 28, 2022). Highlights of the festival include performances of nature-inspired works by Richard Strauss and Gustav Mahler. The festival will close with a performance of an entire Sibelius cycle by the Oslo Philharmonic orchestra conducted by Klaus Mäkelä on May 30-June 1, 2022.
