World's largest steel producer eyeing production of climate-neutral steel - key role for Hamburg

The repercussions of climate change are glaringly obvious and the transition to a sustainable economy is gaining importance. Hopes are now being pinned on environment-friendly hydrogen from renewable energies. Hydrogen holds offers enormous potential for Hamburg to decarbonise industrial processes on a large scale.

ArcelorMittal is taking the next steps towards the industrial production of climate-neutral steel. The world's largest steel company has set itself the goal of slashing its CO2 emissions in Europe by 30 per cent before 2030 and to produce climate-neutral steel by 2050. Dr Uwe Braun, CEO of ArcelorMittal GmbH in Hamburg, outlines the plans to Future Hamburg Talk.
