Ministry of Economics sets up central contact point in Hamburg

The Ministry of Economics, Transport and Innovation (BWVI) has set up a contact point for companies hit by the corona crisis to stabilise global supply chains. The Port of Hamburg is expecting reduced cargo handling volumes as the crisis is hampering both the production and delivery of essential resources. Hamburg is a leading industrial production centre and hub of logistics.
Restoring supply chains
The ministry’s Foreign Trade Division has a network of worldwide contacts. “We have a keen interest in ensuring that the manufacture and delivery of the required goods is carried out smoothly wherever possible. Functioning international supply chains are essential for industry and for Hamburg as a port and centre of logistics. They are the backbone of our world based on labour," said Michael Westhagemann, Senator for Economic Affairs.
