The awarding committee includes Mareike Ottrand, founder of Studios Fizbin and professor of interactive illustration and games at HAW Hamburg. In 2014, she won the German Computer Game Prize with her diploma entitled "The Inner World" in the "Best German Game" category. Michael Schade, CEO of Rockfish Games, is also on the award committee. He has over 25 years of experience in the CGI and video game industry. In 2014, Rockfish Games began specializing in action games for PC and console games. The committee also includes Nina Müller, Head of Studio at Goodgame Studios. She previously held executive positions at Bigpoint and Goodgames in Hamburg and worked mainly on live game management and developing online, browser and mobile games. The other committee members are Jens Unrau, Head of the Department of Media and Digital Economy at the Ministry of Culture and Media, and Dennis Schoubye, Project Lead gamecity:hamburg.
Game developers, start-ups and companies have until the deadline of May 25, 2020 to apply for Hamburg's prototype funding. An awarding committee consisting of five experts in games development, the Ministry of Culture and Media and gamecity:hamburg will decided on the recipients in June. The award takes account of talented young people, feasibility, market potential and the location effect.

Individuals, developer communities and SMEs in Hamburg (or that will be based in the city in future) are can apply for the grants. The committee will decide on the eligible projects and recommend the funding.
