The Bazaar Group, a British market-leading soft seating manufacturer based in Northumberland, has opened a 32,000 square metre distribution centre in Hamburg to meet the growing online requirements of European consumers,  a press release said Monday (October 17, 2022). The company has developed a European growth plan on the heels of a GBP 10 million (EUR 11.4 million) private equity investment from Comhar Capital in 2021. The group has grown rapidly since 2005 and is a key partner of large e-commerce platforms such as Amazon and eBay. It has also grown its own e-commerce websites to showcase its range of soft seating in-house designs.

Becoming a pan-European company

Andy Atkins, Independent Director of Bazaar Group, said: “By delivering a class-leading facility in Europe and embedding our values and culture at the new site, the expanded team are successfully fulfilling our strategic goal of becoming a genuinely pan-European furnishings business." Craig Wilkinson, Managing Director of Comhar Capital, said: “Since its formation, Bazaar Group has developed a strong following from consumers in Europe. Our new manufacturing and fulfilment facility in Hamburg will enable us to better serve their needs and at the same time boost our efforts to grow and nurture new consumer relationships. This is a hugely significant and very exciting step for the business.”

Settlement helped by Hamburg Invest

The Bazaar Group employs 61 staff and has won several regional and international awards, according to the company. Hopes are now high that the new location will lead to shorter delivery times and improved relations with its European customers. Hamburg Invest helped the Bazaar Group relocate to north Germany from Cramlington in Northumberland, England.
