More than 12,000 parking spaces for passengers arriving by car are available at Hamburg Airport. Now, the leading airport of Germany’s north introduces another great service for travellers. The parking garage P4, opposite Terminal 2, has been converted in an exclusive parking area with 37 parking spaces offering greater comfort with additional lighting and wider bays. In addition, drivers of electric cars can top up their cars at four charging stations. These parking spaces can be reserved in advance.

Responding to Passenger Requests

“With the new service we fulfill a wish uttered by many passengers who asked for more spacious parking,” says Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport. “Moreover, passengers increasingly ask about charging facilities for electric cars. We are happy to do our part to support the acceptance of such energies and to be able to offer our passengers this as a new service.” Especially for passengers, who start the morning start with an appointment and come back in the afternoon or evening,it is a great opportunity to charge their car in the meantime.

The charging stations are equipped with a cable and a charging plug. The charge power is limited to 3.7 kW. “As an environmentally aware airport, we are pleased that we can present to our guests this additional source of energy for their car,” emphasises Volker Budde, Environmental Officer at Hamburg Airport. “In the Hamburg Airport Mobility Concept 2020, the airport committed itself to supply 50 per cent of of all vehicles of our Hamburg Airport Group with alternative energie by 2020s. Standard vehicles such as passenger cars, vans, Sprinter and buses are to be operated even with 100 per cent eco-friendly driving styles. “
