Since last weekend, Hamburg locals and tourist have been able to discover how the Olympic Summer Games may look like in Hamburg in 2024. Arriving passengers and visitors can marvel at the Hamburg Stadium, which is being being displayed in model size in the arrivals area of Terminal 1. Between 20,000 and 40,000 people pass through this area every day. An employee in charge of the stadium during the airport opening times will be answering any questions in regard to Hamburg’s Olympic bid and Hamburg Airport.
Olympic Stadium On Tour
The promotion tour of Hamburg’s Olympic stadium has been launched and organised by Hamburg’s internatinally acclaimed Miniatur Wunderland, with a first model of Hamburg’s Olympic stadion displayed at the Europa Passage shopping arcade in December. There, sports enthusiasts were able to demonstrate their support for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Hamburg by placing a small figurine on the seats of the stadium added. Since the end of January, the stadium has been fully filled up by 75,000 people who participated in the challenge. “By displaying the Olympic stadium, we like to show that the Olympic bid is supported by the city and its citizens”, said Frederik Braun, CEO Miniatur Wunderland. “By touring with our miniature model, we now hope to gain even more supporters of Hamburg’s bid.”
“Hamburg Airport is fully supporting Hamburg’s bid for the Olympics. We hope that the enthusiasm for sports will be carried to the entire world by the model displayed at the airport, and bring the games to Hamburg”, adds Michael Eggenschwiler, CEOHamburg Airport.
