Lufthansa Technik Middle East has doubled the size of its facility in the Gulf region and added new services to its portfolio in response to growing customer demands, a press release said Monday (February 11, 2019). The German Federal Aviation Office (LBA) successfully audited the facility in the second half of 2018. The hangar and workshop space at the main facility in the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub at Dubai South has been increased from 2,500 to 5,000 square meters – just one year after the location opened.
More new services planned
Tahnoon Saif, CEO, Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub said: “Lufthansa Technik is one of the leading aviation suppliers in the world and we are delighted to see that their facility has doubled in size within the first year of operation at the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub. We look forward to developing their offering at the Aerospace Hub, and will continue to support their growth and development.”
Rising number of components
The additional space allows Lufthansa Technik Middle East to increase its capabilities for Airframe Related Components (ARC®) e.g. composite repairs on components such as the inlet cowls of the Boeing 787. New nacelle and radome spares for Boeing 787, 777 and Airbus A320 aircraft were acquired. Additional local mobile support teams can now perform on-wing work for certain repairs at customer sites across the region. This reduces costs and turnaround times significantly. More services are being planned at present.
