Lufthansa Technik AG in Hamburg has completed the VVIP cabin conversion of the second Boeing 747-8. The aircraft has been handed over to an unnamed customer. “The delivery of this second 747-8 is another milestone for us in the area of VVIP completions for widebody aircraft. We have handed over an individually designed, state-of-the-art aircraft fitted with high-quality materials to meet the most discerning demands in terms of exclusivity and comfort,” says Walter Heerdt, Senior Vice President VIP & Executive Jet Solutions.” Another aircraft of this kind is currently in production. The VIP & Executive Jet Solutions product division is headquartered in Hamburg where it employs around 600 staff in the Completion Center and another 550 people in VIO maintenance.
WLAN and live TV
Lufthansa Technik has already equipped 14 aircraft of the predecessor model to the current Boeing 747-8. The design of the 440 square meter cabin contrasts sharply with the classic design of the Boeing 747-8. Integrated cabin management and an on-board entertainment system offers the latest standards in entertainment and communication. That includes broadband internet, GSM, WLAN, live TV and satellite communication among others.
80 medium and long-haul aircraft
Lufthansa Technik supports the maintenance and repair of aircraft in Lufthansa’s fleet and those of many international clients including a large number of VIP and government aircraft. The VIP & Executive Solutions product division has already completed over 80 medium and long-haul aircraft. Apart from equipping VIP aircraft, Lufthansa Technik also offers custom-made logistics and maintenance services for VIP customers.
