The “Hamburg Aviation Young Talent Prize” was established by the excellence cluster Hamburg Aviation to foster talented young people with innovative ideas in northern Germany’s aviation industry. This plays a long-term role in maintaining the competitiveness of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region as a centre of aviation and keeping well-qualified academics here. Even though the application period has started in May, graduates of the aviation industry still have the chance to submit their graduation paper or project to the contest until 10 July 2015. Entry is open for all aviation-related subjects, in particular cross-sectional topics such as measuring and controlling technology, IT, restructuring the supply chain, coherent solutions for integrating suppliers, and innovation management within aviation clusters.
Theory and Practical Application
In 2015, the award will be funded by the Hamburg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transportation and Innovation (BWVI) and the Hamburg industry champions Airbus Operations GmbH and Lufthansa Technik AG. A 2015 novelty: What is new is a division into two categories: candidates may enter their application both in the category “Theoretical Concept” and “Application-Oriented Work”. The prize-giving ceremony will take place at the 44th Hamburg Aviation Forum in October.
Supporting Young Talents
In 2014, Hamburg Aviation granted its Young Talent Award to Marc Spille of HAW Hamburg, who als was named winner of the Crystal Cabin Award 2015 in the “university” category. The concept of the Hamburg Aviation Awards to promote young talent with innovative ideas thus bears fruit. Also in 2015, the award will be endowed with 1,500 euro.
There is just one criterion to meet when applying: the candidate or the company must be resident in Hamburg or its metro region.
