A free virtual reality app is now available for iOS and Android devices and gives users information in a virtual reality-boarding gate about flight destinations and airlines at Hamburg Airport, a press release said Friday (February 2, 2018). The app has been developed by Hamburg Airport in co-operation with the Bremen-based VistoVR start-up and provides photographs, 360-degree clips and videos of places like New York, Marrakesh and the Algarve to give users ideas for their next holiday. The app can be used with a virtual reality headset.
Virtual reality pilot project
Dr. Jörgen Kearsley, Head of Aviation Marketing at Hamburg Airport, said: “Hamburg Airport is playing a pioneering role among airports with the virtual reality app. Our guests can find information about destinations in the virtual boarding gate in a new, exciting way and ideas for their next holiday. The app’s contents are updated and renewed regularly so the user always has something to discover as well as new holiday destinations.” Hamburg Airport has launched the pilot project to determine whether virtual reality is suitable for informing passengers about destinations and connections and has also developed a website with more information about the new app.
Hamburg Airport investing in digital communication
