Hamburg Airport has installed four interactive information kiosks in the terminals to help passengers and visitors find their way around the 116 check-in counters, 98 shops and restaurants and more than 20 service facilities. The new service is a digital guidance and orientation system that shows guests the fastest route to their desired destination. The route can be transferred to a mobile phone using a QR code, so that the digital map is always available.
Expansion of digital customer service
The new touch-enabled monitors have been installed in the public areas of Terminals 1 and 2 and on the pier behind the security checkpoint. Passengers and visitors now get information using the devices. Apart from digital maps, the content also includes a display of current flight data and other travel information such as the conditions for checked baggage. Passengers can use the zoomable terminal map to get a quick overview of shopping and service offers at the airport.
Monitoring acceptance and use
“We are offering passengers, collectors and visitors a localised, digital service with our info touchscreens that optimally meets our guests’ orientation and information needs,” said Stefanie Harder, Head of Corporate Communications and Service at Hamburg Airport. During a pilot phase, Hamburg Airport will monitor the acceptance and use by guests. The kiosk systems will be operated initially in German and English only. The system will be available in the Danish language soon.
