Around 14 brand new destinations have been added to Hamburg Airport’s summer schedule, a press release said Thursday (March 23). From June 4, easyJet will fly to Bordeaux and twice weekly to Valencia from June 28. Bordeaux had previously featured on Hamburg Airport’s network, but was suspended when ASL Airlines France lapsed the route last September.
Airlines are prioritising sunny, holiday destinations this summer. Around 60 airlines fly to 130 destinations from Hamburg Airport. “Whether for city trips, beach holidays or visiting families – demand for flights is high in Hamburg and the metropolitan region,” said Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport. He added: “Our constantly growing route network offers our passengers a broad range of flights at different prices and comfort levels which will bring them to their destinations swiftly and comfortably.”
New destinations in Hamburg Airport’s network
Blue Air has added Liverpool and the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca to its new connections from Hamburg. And on the Liverpool route, the airline will operate a Boeing 737 four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from March 26. Hamburg and Liverpool also have “The Beatles” in common as the fab four hail from Liverpool and launched their career with performances in the Hanse city.
Ryan Air is also extending its operations and will fly to Verona twice a week from Hamburg beginning on March 27. Apart from Venice Treviso, Ryanair is also adding Lamezia Terme in Calabria, which has not featured in Hamburg’s route network for quite a while. The city is a popular starting point for holidays along Italy’s Adriatic coast. The airline will also fly to Katowice in Poland three times per week from March 27 boosting the link to Silesia. Similar to rival easyJet, Ryanair will is also offering a new connection three times per week to Valencia in Spain from May 2.
Malta is returning to Hamburg’s route network after a short intermission when Condor begins flights to the island. Eurowings is offering flights to Bologna from April 9. And from May 5, Germania will launch a twice weekly connection to Almeria, a port in Andalusia. Small Planet Airlines is offering a flight once a week to Larnaca in Cyprus from May 7 for tour operator FTI. The Estonian capital Tallinn is returning to Hamburg Airport’s summer schedule as well. SunExpress is offering a new connection from Hamburg Airport to Elazig in eastern Anatolia from June 19.
New connections to existing destinations
Hamburg Airport is also extending offers on existing routes for passengers. TUIfly is returning to Hamburg Airport’s schedule after a pause and will offer flights to Tenerife, Fuerte Ventura, Gran Canaria, Crete, Kos, Rhodes, Palma de Majorca, Menorca and Jerez de la Frontera from summer.
