Hamburg Airport expands network in Eastern Europe

Tarom airline celebrates first flight from Hamburg to Bucharest. Hamburg Airport adds five new destinations in Eastern Europe to summer flight schedule

Romania’s carrier, Tarom, began operating Monday (May 9) four weekly flights from Hamburg to Bucharest. The move comes after another Romanian airline, Blue Air, began operating two weekly flights on the same route from March 29, 2016 marking the first flight connection between Hamburg and Bucharest.

Gabriel Stoe, Managing Director of Tarom, said: “As the second biggest city in Germany and the world’s third largest port, the Hamburg connection has great potential and offers our passengers new possibilities for traveling all over the world.”

New destinations include Gdansk, Kiev and Skopje

Hamburg Airport’s summer flight schedule has added 11 new destinations this summer including five in Eastern Europe. And from April 17, 2016, Hungary’s Wizz Air began offering three new flight routes from Hamburg Airport.

“Gdansk, Kiev and Skopje are entirely new destinations which have not been offered directly from Hamburg before”, said Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport. Wizz Air is offering two weekly flights each to Skopje in Macedonia and the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, and four times weekly to Gdansk in Poland.

Fly Air Serbia to Belgrade

Hamburg Airport also announced on social media the addition of four weekly Air Serbia flights to Belgrade from Hamburg beginning on June 15.
