Flio wins "Best Customer Journey Experience" category

Airport app prized top digital innovation in new Crystal Cabin Award segment

The Hamburg-based start-up Flio has won the very first Crystal Cabin Award in the new, special Best Customer Journey Experience category, a press release said Tuesday (September 25, 2018). The winning “Digital Airport Experience” won over 30 jurors all of whom are experts in various parts of civil aviation. Flio’s app pools detailed flight and airport information, terminal overview maps, as well as direct booking options for lounges or transportation at airports worldwide. The special category award was presented during the APEX EXPO and AIX North America trade fairs in Boston, Massachusetts. The new award targets innovative and digital products that boost and enhance the passenger experience with hardware or software solutions throughout the entire flight i.e. planning, booking, purchase, pre-trip, departure, in-flight and post-trip.

World’s most widely used airport app

In the final round of three, Flio’s Digital Airport Experience overcame the “Flagship First Customer Journey” by American Airlines and “Virtual Reality Passenger Experience” by Inflight VR with Airbus. Meanwhile, the Flio solution has become the world’s most widely used airport app for smartphones. The app is aimed at passengers in all booking classes and first airlines have begun integrating Flio’s services into their own apps as well. Hamburg Airport began co-operating with Flio in mid July 2018. The app can be used to reserve e.g. parking spaces or to cash in discounts for shops and restaurants.
